Departure by flight to Colombo, via Istanbul. Overnight on board.
Arrival in Colombo, capital of Sri Lanka. Continue by road to Sigiriya. Arrive at the hotel, where you will enjoy an Ayurvedic massage. Dinner at the hotel.
Half board. Full day excursion to Anuradhapura, one of the ancient capitals founded in the 6th century B.C. En route we will visit the giant 13 m high statue of the Buddha of Aukana. Founded by King Pandukabhaya, the remains of the Royal Palace are among the ruins. In the afternoon visit of the Archaeological Museum. Later continue to Mihintale, the ‘Sacred Mountain’. Return to Sigiriya. Dinner at the hotel.
Half board. In the morning we will climb the Sigiriyah Rock, known as the ‘Lion Rock’. We will see the ‘Golden Maidens of Sigiriya’, perfectly preserved 5th century frescoes. In the afternoon, visit Polonnaruwa and the ruins of the Royal Palace and the 3 giant Buddhas of Gal Vihara. On the way back to the hotel, enjoy a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, home to a large wild elephant reserve. Dinner at the hotel.
Half board. In the morning, visit of the rock-hewn temple of Dambulla, which contains the most important collection of Buddha images in Sri Lanka. Then departure to Matale to visit the Spice Garden. We will also visit a Batik factory. Arrival in Kandy and visit of the Dalada Maligawa, the Temple of the Tooth of the Buddha. In the evening we will attend a traditional dance session. Dinner at the hotel.
Half board. Departure by train to Rambukkana. On arrival transfer by typical tuk-tuk to Pinnawela where we will visit the elephant orphanage. On return to Kandy visit the Gadaladeniya Temples, the Embekke Devale, the Lankatilaka Vihara, the Handicraft Centre and the Gemmological Museum. Dinner at the hotel.
Half board. Morning visit of the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Departure by road to Nuwara Eliya. On the way visit a tea factory. Arrival in Nuwara Eliya, full of colonial atmosphere. Dinner at the hotel.
Half board. Morning departure to Colombo via Kitugala. On arrival, sightseeing tour of the city. Dinner at the hotel.
Breakfast. Departure by flight to Male. Transfer to the hotel of your choice.
